The Union Cabinet approved the country's three digital technology agreements with France, Papua New Guinea, and Trinidad and Tobago. The MoU (memorandum of understanding) with France aims to encourage tighter collaboration and information exchange about digital technologies, as well as to mutually support each participant's goal of promoting access to digital technology in their respective nations.

 

"The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of the French Republic on cooperation in the field of Digital Technologies," the statement said.

 

The MoU is likely to enhance bilateral cooperation in digital technologies in the G2G (government-to-government) and B2B (business-to-business) domains, as per thehindu.

 

"MoU envisages improved collaboration, leading to employment opportunities in the field of IT," the statement said.

 

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has been tasked with promoting international cooperation in developing and frontier sectors of information technology through bilateral and regional collaboration frameworks.

 

"The cooperation under this MoU will start on the date of its signature by both Participants and will last five years," the statement said.

 

The cabinet approved the Memorandum of Understanding agreed on July 28 between Meity and the Papua New Guinea Ministry of Information and Communications Technology on collaboration in sharing successful digital solutions deployed at population size for digital transformation.
